Jason Ross Minneapolis Concert reviews
Pretty decent concert but not exceptional.
1. They've done a fantastic job with the renovation of the historic Beacon Theatre.
2. Michael McDonald's set was somewhat predictable but still pretty good, and he remains one of the best keyboard players around.
3. The house mix was a bit off during Jason Ross's set, with the instruments overpowering the vocals.
4. The concert was personally ruined for me by an overly enthusiastic woman on my left whose wild shoulder gyrations and other spastic motions were distracting.
5. Frankly, we've never been huge fans of Jason Ross and only stayed through the first 4 or 5 songs of his set.
6. We had great orchestra seats just behind and to the right of the mixing console.
7. He's not a great showman but still a solid performer, although it was very hard to make out the words in more than about 10% of his vocals.
8. Also, we did not appreciate the group of 40-something friends in the row in front of us who stood throughout the last 3-4 songs of Michael's set, completely blocking our view.
